Courses Offerings

The following courses are offered through Odyssey Ware. This is an online program where students may work at their own pace.  All course work must be finished by the end of the semester in which the student is enrolled.  Evening School students may be enrolled in fresh credit courses (courses which they have never taken before) or Credit Recovery courses (courses which they have taken and recieved a failing grade).

Courses Taken for Fresh (First Time) Credit

To ensure that rigor is in place for students taking new courses, the following guidelines apply:

  • End of Course (EOC) Classes (Math 1, Biology, and English 2) –

    • Evening schools will follow the state policy for offering EOC courses.

    • In order to take an EOC as first time credit, the student will be required to take   the state end-of-course exam associated with that course.

  • Final overall grade for each unit - must be at least “70.”

  • Lessons/Quizzes

    • May be taken twice in an attempt to achieve a required passing grade. After the second attempt, test corrections must be completed by the student and shown to teacher. The teacher will then reassign missed items only.

    • If a student fails the lesson or quiz after the third attempt, the teacher will reassign the entire lesson or test to the student or opt to allow the student to keep the grade achieved.

  • Projects

    • Only one project will be assigned in each unit. All other projects will be skipped by the teacher.

    • The teacher will determine which project the student completes and how that project is completed for each unit.

    • Methods used will include, but are not limited to:

      • PowerPoints

      • Prezi’s

      • Essays

      • Surveys

      • Interviews

      • Points will be deducted for work that is not grammatically correct

  • Unit Tests

    • Before unit tests are unblocked, students are required to show the teacher all handwritten vocabulary and definitions for the unit.

    • If the student does not score at least a “70” on the unit test, he/she will be required to submit test corrections to the teacher before attempting it again.

    • The final grade on each unit test must be at least “70.”

  • Final Exams – Students must pass the final exam with at least “70.”

    • The exam will count as 25% of the final grade as per county policy.

    • Exams will be taken only one time, however, it is up to the teacher if the student’s exam grade needs to be higher.

  •  Arrival and Departure Times

    • All students are responsible for arriving and leaving evening school as assigned.

First time credit students must remain in class for 4 hours (2:45 - 6:45).

    • This time can be adjusted and communicated to students at the teacher’s discretion, based on breaks, etc.
